What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Edinburgh
Edinburgh is a city of garden types more than one garden style: walled Victorian plots in Morningside and Newington, bungalow lawns across Corstorphine and Blackhall, coastal grass at Portobello and Cramond, slopes in Liberton and Currie, and new-build turf from Craigmillar to the city edge. Each one fails and flourishes differently.
Our lawn care follows those differences. Shade programmes for the walled south side, salt-aware care by the sea, compaction work on the new estates, and exposure-minded timing on the high southern suburbs. The methods are the same everywhere, scarifying, aeration, seasonal feeding, honest mowing, but the mix and the timing are local.
We work across the whole city from our Midlothian base, minutes off the bypass, and every suburb we cover has its own page here with the detail. Wherever you are, it starts the same way: we walk your lawn, tell you what is wrong, and price the plan that fixes it.

Everything Your Lawn Needs
Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.
Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.
Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.
Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.
Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.
Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.
Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.
Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny
What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.
Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.
A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.
Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.
Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.
Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.
Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.
Why Folk Round Here Stick With DSM
Here’s what keeps customers on the round year after year.
You get the same faces on a fixed day every visit, not whoever happens to be free that week.
Quoted once, in writing, after we've seen the lawn. No meters running and no surprise extras.
Stay because the lawn looks good, not because a bit of paper says you have to.
Public liability cover on every job, and we're happy to show you the certificate.
Green waste taken away or composted on site, whichever suits you. Nothing left on the path.
Minutes off the city bypass, working Edinburgh and Midlothian every week.
What Edinburgh Folk Say About Us
Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.
Fabulous company, Davie and his team have treated my lawn and I am delighted with the results. I now have a maintenance plan and they regularly treat the grass for a very competitive price and I would thoroughly recommend them.
David and his team visited us a few weeks ago, from the initial call to talk through what was required I knew this was the company for me! Very informative; helped me understand where I had been going wrong with my grass. DSM Turfing & Lawncare have given my grass a new lease at life, without blowing a hole in my bank balance. Thank you for everything
Lawn Care Projects From Around The Lothians
Featured · Gilmerton
We took this Gilmerton lawn over in April. The front garden was patchy, thin and full of weeds. Since then it has been on our treatment and maintenance plan: feeding, weed control and regular cutting through the season. A few months later it is thick, green and striped. Plans run over 12 months, and it is never too late in the year to start.

Lawn CareThis Prestonpans garden is on our treatment and maintenance plan, front and back. When the lawns need feeding, we feed them. When we see weeds, we spray them. And when the grass is growing too fast, we slow it down so it doesn't race away between cuts. Both lawns are thick, dark green and striped now, and they'll stay that way as long as the plan keeps running.

Lawn CareThis Wallyford lawn came to us rough and uneven, coarse tufts and clumps sitting proud with thin ground showing between them. It's on our treatment and maintenance plan now: fed on a schedule, weeds treated as they appear, and cut regularly so the growth stays even instead of running away in lumps. It's level and striped from end to end these days, and the plan is what keeps it there.

Edinburgh grows grass in every register: walled Victorian strips in the south, bungalow rectangles in the west, salt-blown greens by the shore, slopes in between and new-build turf on every regenerating edge. We work all of them, weekly.
The treatments are universal, scarify, aerate, seed, feed, mow well, but the mix and timing are local. Shade programmes for the walled gardens, salt-aware care on the coast, compaction work on the new estates, exposure plans up the hill.
We photograph our work and publish the before-and-afters, because a lawn company should be judged on lawns. The project pages on this site are the portfolio.
Every suburb we cover has its own page with its own detail, and the first step never changes: a free assessment on your actual lawn, a plain diagnosis, and a plan priced to fix it. No contract, month to month.
