Lawn Care, Done Properly
Weekly lawn rounds across the whole county, from Penicuik to Pathhead. Treatments, mowing and renovations with free assessments, plans from £17 a month and no contracts.
What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Midlothian
Midlothian is our home county, and lawn care here is what DSM was built on. From the Esk valley towns of Dalkeith, Eskbank, Bonnyrigg and Lasswade up to Penicuik under the Pentlands and across to Gorebridge and Mayfield on the high ground, our rounds cover the county every week.
The lawns vary more than outsiders expect. Valley gardens fight shade and moss under mature trees, the former mining towns have compact hard-working plots, the new estates from Shawfair to Hopefield sit on compacted builder’s ground, and the higher villages live with a shorter season and more wind. We adjust the work, and the timing, to each.
Every town in the county has its own page on this site with the local detail, but the offer is the same everywhere: an honest assessment first, treatment plans from £17 a month, no contract, and a team that is already in your area this week.

Everything Your Lawn Needs
Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.
Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.
Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.
Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.
Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.
Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.
Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.
Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny
What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.
Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.
A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.
Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.
Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.
Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.
Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.
Why Folk Round Here Stick With DSM
Here’s what keeps customers on the round year after year.
You get the same faces on a fixed day every visit, not whoever happens to be free that week.
Quoted once, in writing, after we've seen the lawn. No meters running and no surprise extras.
Stay because the lawn looks good, not because a bit of paper says you have to.
Public liability cover on every job, and we're happy to show you the certificate.
Green waste taken away or composted on site, whichever suits you. Nothing left on the path.
Based here, working the same towns every week. We live here too.
What Midlothian Folk Say About Us
Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.
Fabulous company, Davie and his team have treated my lawn and I am delighted with the results. I now have a maintenance plan and they regularly treat the grass for a very competitive price and I would thoroughly recommend them.
David and his team visited us a few weeks ago, from the initial call to talk through what was required I knew this was the company for me! Very informative; helped me understand where I had been going wrong with my grass. DSM Turfing & Lawncare have given my grass a new lease at life, without blowing a hole in my bank balance. Thank you for everything

Just one treatment and three weeks separate these photos. This Rosewell new-build lawn was pale and patchy; one matched feed and weed treatment later it came back green, thick and growing evenly. The client has now joined our treatment and maintenance plan, so it will only improve from here.

Lawn CareWe took this Gilmerton lawn over in April. The front garden was patchy, thin and full of weeds. Since then it has been on our treatment and maintenance plan: feeding, weed control and regular cutting through the season. A few months later it is thick, green and striped. Plans run over 12 months, and it is never too late in the year to start.

Lawn CareThis Prestonpans garden is on our treatment and maintenance plan, front and back. When the lawns need feeding, we feed them. When we see weeds, we spray them. And when the grass is growing too fast, we slow it down so it doesn't race away between cuts. Both lawns are thick, dark green and striped now, and they'll stay that way as long as the plan keeps running.

Lawn CareThis Wallyford lawn came to us rough and uneven, coarse tufts and clumps sitting proud with thin ground showing between them. It's on our treatment and maintenance plan now: fed on a schedule, weeds treated as they appear, and cut regularly so the growth stays even instead of running away in lumps. It's level and striped from end to end these days, and the plan is what keeps it there.

Midlothian is home ground, and we cut it end to end: the Esk valley towns, the former mining communities on the high ground, the Pentland-edge villages and the new estates filling the gaps between them. Every town has its own page here with its own detail.
The county's lawns split along its geography. Valley gardens fight shade and moss under mature trees, clay dominates the farmland edges, the high towns run a short exposed season, and the new developments sit on compacted builder's ground. The treatment calendar bends to each.
Everything starts with an assessment on the actual lawn. Then a plan: mowing, treatments, renovation or all three, priced plainly, no contract. Growth decides the schedule, not the calendar.
Our vans run fixed weekly rounds through the whole county, which is why start dates are quick and call-backs quicker. If your town is on the map, we are already nearby.
