Lawn Care in Ormiston

What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Ormiston

Ormiston is one of Scotland’s first planned villages, and its tree-lined main street sets the tone: established gardens, mature hedges, and lawns that have been part of the furniture for generations.

Mature-village lawns carry mature-village issues: thatch from decades of cutting, moss where hedges and trees shade, and ground that has quietly firmed under years of use. All of it yields to the classic sequence of scarify, aerate, seed and feed.

We are through the village weekly on the inland run with Tranent and Pencaitland. Free assessments, honest priorities, and plans sized to village gardens.

What’s Included

Everything Your Lawn Needs

Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.

  • Fertilisation & Nutrition

Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.

  • Weed & Moss Control

Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.

  • Scarification

Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.

  • Aeration

Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.

  • Overseeding

Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.

  • Soil Conditioning

Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.

Lawn Care advice

Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny

What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

  1. Mow little and often.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.

  2. Moss is a symptom, not bad luck.

Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.

  3. Water deeply and rarely.

A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.

  4. Don't feed a stressed lawn.

Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.

  5. Sharpen your blades.

Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.

  6. Autumn is when good lawns are made.

Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.

Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.

What Ormiston Folk Say About Us

Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.

  • We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.

  • Approached DSM having seen their page on Facebook – having been frustrated with the service provided by a competitor – I was desperate to try something new. Davie and his team promptly came to my property – identified the issue's and carried out a full treatment within a few days. My lawn has never looked so good & healthy – I have signed up to the treatment only plan for a few months and will continue…

Lawn Care in Ormiston: the local detail

What Matters Here for Lawn Care in Ormiston

The planned village

Ormiston's layout gives most houses a proper garden, and most gardens a proper lawn. The established feel is the asset; the accumulated thatch and shade lines are the work.

The tree line

The village's trees and hedges shade lawn edges for real portions of the day. Those strips get tolerant seed, harder scarifying and autumn leaf discipline so moss never gets a settled tenancy.

The revival case

A typical Ormiston job is a lawn that has drifted for a decade: still mowed, never fed, slowly thinning. One renovation season resets it, and modest annual care keeps it reset.

Getting started

Weekly inland run, free assessment, no contract. Village lawns are quick visits and priced like it.
