What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Port Seton

Port Seton and Cockenzie grew around their harbours, and their gardens still face the weather that shaped them: salt air off the Forth, sandy ground, and wind that finds any lawn left thin.

Our Port Seton case study shows what the right plan does here: a tired lawn on the treatment and maintenance plan, transformed within a month and photographed on this site. The method is the coastal standard: tolerant grasses, patient feeding, generous cutting heights.

We run the coast road weekly from our Midlothian base, so Port Seton slots are simple. Free on-site assessments, honest advice, no contract.

What’s Included

Everything Your Lawn Needs

Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.

  • Fertilisation & Nutrition

Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.

  • Weed & Moss Control

Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.

  • Scarification

Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.

  • Aeration

Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.

  • Overseeding

Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.

  • Soil Conditioning

Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.

Lawn Care advice

Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny

What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

Davie Murray, owner of DSM Lawn & Landscape, on the job

  1. Mow little and often.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.

  2. Moss is a symptom, not bad luck.

Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.

  3. Water deeply and rarely.

A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.

  4. Don't feed a stressed lawn.

Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.

  5. Sharpen your blades.

Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.

  6. Autumn is when good lawns are made.

Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.

Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.

What Port Seton Folk Say About Us

Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.

  • We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.

  • Approached DSM having seen their page on Facebook – having been frustrated with the service provided by a competitor – I was desperate to try something new. Davie and his team promptly came to my property – identified the issue's and carried out a full treatment within a few days. My lawn has never looked so good & healthy – I have signed up to the treatment only plan for a few months and will continue…

Lawn Care in Port Seton

This Port Seton lawn came to us in a sorry state, thin, patchy and struggling. The client joined our treatment and maintenance plan, and with regular feeds, weed control and scheduled visits the turnaround took about a month. The photos tell it best: the first is where we started, the second is the same lawn a month or so later.

Lawn Care in Port Seton: the local detail

What Matters Here for Lawn Care in Port Seton

The harbour towns

These are proper coastal gardens: compact plots, sea air on every breeze, and ground that drains almost too well. Lawns that thrive here are built for the conditions, not borrowed from an inland manual.

The case study

Our published Port Seton job is the local proof: first photo a sorry state, second photo a month into the plan. Same garden, same camera angle, different lawn.

The method

Salt-tolerant overseeding, feeds split small across the season, cutting that leaves the grass its own protection, and aeration where paths and play have packed the ground.

Getting started

Weekly on the coastal run with Prestonpans and Musselburgh. Free assessment, plan priced to the lawn.
