Lawn Care in Wallyford

What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Wallyford

Wallyford is growing faster than anywhere in East Lothian, with new estates spreading around the old mining village. Most of the lawns here are young, laid by builders on ground their machines had already compacted.

The pattern is familiar from every new development we work: turf that looked fine at handover thinning by its second summer, water sitting after rain, moss arriving early. The fix is mechanical first, aeration to open the packed ground, then seed and feed to build a real sward.

The old village streets have settled gardens with ordinary needs, and the whole town sits on our coastal run past Musselburgh. Free assessments, honest fixes, no contract.

What’s Included

Everything Your Lawn Needs

Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.

  • Fertilisation & Nutrition

Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.

  • Weed & Moss Control

Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.

  • Scarification

Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.

  • Aeration

Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.

  • Overseeding

Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.

  • Soil Conditioning

Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.

Lawn Care advice

Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny

What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

  1. Mow little and often.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.

  2. Moss is a symptom, not bad luck.

Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.

  3. Water deeply and rarely.

A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.

  4. Don't feed a stressed lawn.

Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.

  5. Sharpen your blades.

Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.

  6. Autumn is when good lawns are made.

Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.

Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.

What Wallyford Folk Say About Us

Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.

  • We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.

  • Fabulous company, Davie and his team have treated my lawn and I am delighted with the results. I now have a maintenance plan and they regularly treat the grass for a very competitive price and I would thoroughly recommend them.

  • David and his team visited us a few weeks ago, from the initial call to talk through what was required I knew this was the company for me! Very informative; helped me understand where I had been going wrong with my grass. DSM Turfing & Lawncare have given my grass a new lease at life, without blowing a hole in my bank balance. Thank you for everything

Lawn Care in Wallyford

This Wallyford lawn came to us rough and uneven, coarse tufts and clumps sitting proud with thin ground showing between them. It's on our treatment and maintenance plan now: fed on a schedule, weeds treated as they appear, and cut regularly so the growth stays even instead of running away in lumps. It's level and striped from end to end these days, and the plan is what keeps it there.

Lawn Care in Wallyford: the local detail

What Matters Here for Lawn Care in Wallyford

The boom town

Estate after estate is arriving around old Wallyford, and each hands over lawns with the same birth defect: crushed subsoil under a thin skim of topsoil. It is not bad turf; it is bad ground, and ground can be fixed.

The rescue sequence

Aeration first, always. Then overseeding to thicken what survives, feeds that push roots down rather than forcing soft top growth, and honest watering guidance for the establishment months.

The old village

The original streets are a different job: settled gardens, some moss, some thatch, all of it responding to the standard maintenance rhythm within a season.

Getting started

On the coastal run past Musselburgh weekly. If your lawn is younger than your sofa and already struggling, the free assessment will show you exactly why.
