What You Need To Know About Lawn Care In Prestonpans
Prestonpans runs along the Forth with barely a garden out of reach of the sea air. Lawns here live with salt on the wind, quick-draining ground, and summer dry spells that show on thin grass within days.
The answer is density and rhythm: hard-wearing salt-tolerant grasses, feeds little and often, cutting heights that let the sward shield itself, and aeration where the ground has packed under family use.
One of our documented lawn care jobs is here in Prestonpans, photographed before and after on this site. We are along the coast road every week; a free assessment starts the plan.

Everything Your Lawn Needs
Build the plan around what your lawn actually needs. Most customers are on the regular treatment and maintenance plan; renovations and one-off fixes are priced after a quick look.
Seasonal fertilisers applied at the right time of year to feed your lawn and promote strong, healthy root growth from the ground up.
Targeted treatments to tackle common lawn weeds and suppress moss growth, applied at the right points throughout the year.
Mechanical removal of thatch and moss buildup that chokes your grass. Essential for any lawn that has gone without treatment for a season or more.
Core and spike aeration to relieve compaction, improve drainage, and allow nutrients to reach the root zone more effectively.
Seeding of thin, worn, or bare patches to restore density and give your lawn an even, consistent finish across the whole surface area.
Topdressing and soil treatment to improve the growing environment beneath the surface, tailored to your specific soil type and condition.
Davie’s Advice before you spend a penny
What Davie tells every customer, whether they book us or not. Free to ignore, but he’s usually right.

Never take more than a third off in one cut.
Unless shade and compaction are dealt with, it comes back.
A daily sprinkle grows shallow roots.
Fertiliser in a drought does more harm than good.
Blunt ones tear the grass and it browns at the tips. Or let us worry about it.
Scarify, aerate and overseed while the soil is still warm.
Got a question these don't cover? Ask Davie. He answers everything himself.
Why Folk Round Here Stick With DSM
Here’s what keeps customers on the round year after year.
You get the same faces on a fixed day every visit, not whoever happens to be free that week.
Quoted once, in writing, after we've seen the lawn. No meters running and no surprise extras.
Stay because the lawn looks good, not because a bit of paper says you have to.
Public liability cover on every job, and we're happy to show you the certificate.
Green waste taken away or composted on site, whichever suits you. Nothing left on the path.
Based in Midlothian, minutes up the coast road, working East Lothian every week.
What Prestonpans Folk Say About Us
Real reviews from Lawn Care customers around Edinburgh and the Lothians.
We started with a very sad, new-build lawn that had suffered from a winter of neglect. After just a few months on their treatment and maintenance plan, it has completely turned around and looks absolutely great. Davie and the team turn up without fail and nothing is ever too much bother.
Fabulous company, Davie and his team have treated my lawn and I am delighted with the results. I now have a maintenance plan and they regularly treat the grass for a very competitive price and I would thoroughly recommend them.
David and his team visited us a few weeks ago, from the initial call to talk through what was required I knew this was the company for me! Very informative; helped me understand where I had been going wrong with my grass. DSM Turfing & Lawncare have given my grass a new lease at life, without blowing a hole in my bank balance. Thank you for everything

This Prestonpans garden is on our treatment and maintenance plan, front and back. When the lawns need feeding, we feed them. When we see weeds, we spray them. And when the grass is growing too fast, we slow it down so it doesn't race away between cuts. Both lawns are thick, dark green and striped now, and they'll stay that way as long as the plan keeps running.

Lawn CareWe took this Gilmerton lawn over in April. The front garden was patchy, thin and full of weeds. Since then it has been on our treatment and maintenance plan: feeding, weed control and regular cutting through the season. A few months later it is thick, green and striped. Plans run over 12 months, and it is never too late in the year to start.

Lawn CareThis Wallyford lawn came to us rough and uneven, coarse tufts and clumps sitting proud with thin ground showing between them. It's on our treatment and maintenance plan now: fed on a schedule, weeds treated as they appear, and cut regularly so the growth stays even instead of running away in lumps. It's level and striped from end to end these days, and the plan is what keeps it there.

The town faces the Forth head-on, and the closer the garden sits to the front, the more the wind writes the rules. Exposed lawns get salt-tolerant seed and a longer cut; sheltered streets behind get a more conventional programme.
Prestonpans is one of our published before-and-afters: a lawn on the treatment and maintenance plan, photographed as it turned. It is the neighbour-visible kind of proof we like best.

Sandy, fast-draining soil is kind in winter and hungry in summer. It will not hold a season's feed in one dose, so we split feeding across the year and build organic matter where beds and lawns need it.
